This week at New Hope Central Oahu, Pastor Mark opens our new series, Service, with Week 1: From Sabbath to Service.
After six weeks exploring the gift of Sabbath, we learned that our value is not found in what we produce, but in who we are in Christ. Yet God’s invitation to rest was never meant to lead to a life of comfort or passivity.
Jesus lived in a sacred rhythm of withdrawing to be with the Father and returning to serve others. He came not to be served, but to serve. Sabbath and service belong together: we receive God’s love so that we can give it away, and we rest in God’s presence so that we can pour ourselves out for others.
Serving is not just something we do; it is one of the primary ways God transforms us into the image of Christ. As we serve, our fruit is revealed, and our fruit reveals the condition of our hearts.
